Ayanpuram Nadar Uravinmurai Sangam has been contributing a lot of Welfare Services to promote the life style of the Nadar Community in Ayanavaram. It has also given a lot of importance to the cause of Education. It was at that time the idea of evolving a school in Ayanavaram took pace during the fifth death anniversary day of W.P.A. Soundarapandian which was presided by the Sangam president Thiru.S.P.Chellaiya Nadar in the year 1957. During that period Thiru.S.T.M. Srinivasagam took the initiative of starting a school and donated Rs.11/-for the noble cause in the name of “W.P.A. Soundarapandian”.


A team of 13 members headed by Thiru.V.C.Mariyappa Nadar donated Rs.51.77/- to start a school in Ayanavaram. After one and a half years, Thiru, S.Rajan Nadar with great effort got permission from the state government to start a school named “Ayanpuram Nadar Uravinmurai Sangam’s W.P.A.Soundarapandian Free Elementary School” on 05.08.1958. Thiru.A.Azhagiri Naidu M.A.,B.L., Secretary of Chennai district Law department presided the function alongwith Thiru.Thaiyappa Thevar Retd IAS (Chennai) inaugurated the function. The foundation stone was laid by the popular South Indian Industrialist Thiru.A.M.M.Murugappa Chettiar on 17.08.1958. The Elementary School started with 375 students (both boys and girls) and eight teachers. In the academic year 1961-62, with 1350 students and 29 teachers, the school was upgraded as Higher Elementary School. In the year 1971, according to G.O.Ms.No. 831/1915-71 and order of the school Director D.D.Is.No.109301G3170 dated 31.05.1971; the school was again upgraded as High School. The strength of the school students increased along with 35 teachers.


The primary school ground floor was successfully built with a sum of Rupees One Lakh donated by Chennai traders and with the hard work of the Sangam Members. As the strength of the school students increased the school was in need of ten grounds on the east side. Rs.10, 000/- was given as advance on 20.01.1974, later the full settlement of Rs.1, 15,000/- was given for the acquired land on 13.08.1974. Rs.25, 000/- was spent to construct the school compound wall and to build 22 Classrooms.


According to RL.No.72533/W115/79 dated 02.06.1979, the High School upgraded as Higher Secondary School. In the academic year 1980-81, three class rooms were built on the west side with an amount of Rs.32, 000/-. According to the order of the School Director RC 1565021 W10 dated 01.09.1980, Rupees One Lakh was given to construct Physics, Chemistry and Biology laboratories. The school management also spent Rupees Two Lakhs for the construction and Rupees One Lakh was spent to buy the required apparatus. It also constructed toilets in the south east building and near the lab.


To enhance the educational interest of the higher secondary students Rs.8, 500/- was spent to buy library books. In the academic year 1983-1984 Rs.45, 000/- was spent to buy 90 benches and desks. Earlier Rs.30, 000/- was spent to buy 60 benches and desks. During the academic year 1985-86 Rs.1, 20,000/- was spent to construct seven class rooms in the west side and 35 benches and desks were bought. Again in the academic year 1986-87, nine classrooms were constructed in the south side and 30 benches and desks were bought. To educate “Life Oriented Education”, which was proposed by the central and state life education, our school introduced the computer science course in the academic year 1987-88. For this purpose Rupees Two Lakhs was spent to construct an A.C. Room, required special chairs with writing desks were bought.


In the year 1988-89 three more class rooms were constructed. Modern girls toilets were constructed, renovation of old school building, repair of ACs, electrical boxes and benches and desks were done with an amount of Rs.1,25,000/-  Read More
